Free?

I spent my Sunday catching up on editorials and newspaper articles. The election coverage leaves much to think about regarding gender and race in America. The paternalism of some of the comments is remarkable and makes me wonder if progressive people are truly free. David often says to me: "...people may be saved, but they are not free" and I think I know what he means. People have strings attached to the wrong things, even when their heart is in the right place. David recently expanded on this point with a song, a Labelle song, "People Say They're Changing".

People say they're changing I know they're still the same... they are just rearranging, making the rules to fit their game... (CHORUS)
They tell me Uncle Tom has passed away
Overheard he's resting for another day
People come and they pulled him from his grave
because deep down in every heart there is a master and a slave
and as I turned I said, where are you off to now (Nona Hendrix)
