Alas...

I have been meaning to start writing this for awhile... I guess it took Easter Sunday and new beginnings to finally put my words out. I have been listening to stories as a public health practitioner for a long time and as a physician for the past four years. In medicine, there is a true moral compass that points north. These stories are meant only to serve the patient. However, I have learned introducing them into a public discourse means feeding the public imagination in ways you never intended and often cannot control. This blog is my attempt at documenting the stories I am catching everyday in my work and translating these stories in a manner that is consistent with my professional obligations as a physician, to heal. I think doing the work also has an emotional cost that can benefit from processing regularly my own thoughts about the journey. I hope in sharing these truths, I can help steer the public imagination towards having a moral compass that points north.
